Our u14 boys have had a busy week; last Monday saw them take on The Joes in Darver in the D2 League final. In a game with scores flying in at each end, they won by the narrowest of margins, 6.8 to 5.10. Well done to all those involved for bringing home the Gers first piece of silverware of this season. These boys then took off for Féile on Friday morning. They battled hard winning their first and second games and losing their third. Unfortunately they would also taste defeat in the Cup quarter final despite putting in a huge effort. Well done Boys on your performances over a very busy week for you. Thanks to all mentors and those who assisted in anyway.

Wednesday had our lively U8 Boys & Girls out in Darver at the all county blitz. We had two teams competing showing off all their skills learned this year so far.
Thursday was time for the U12 Girls as they hosted the Wolfe Tones. This was a great game of football with both teams working some great scores on a warm evening. Unfortunately, for the Blues Girls it was not to be their night as they finished short at the final whistle but the effort by all the girls right up until the end was superb.
Newtown Blues 1-03

The 2nd match of the evening in the club was the Div. One clash between the Senior Men and Mattock Rangers. The men were clinical in their approach and took control from the throw in. Saturday morning and as busy for the U14 Boys. They were in Walterstown for the Leinster Féile competition. They played 3 group games against Raheny (DN) Walterstown (MH) & Garycastle(WH). This group of teams were very evenly matched and saw lots of competitive games. At the end of the group games all teams were on equal points with the final contenders being decided by points. This saw our boys through to take on Raheny in the final. Well done to the boys on a great afternoon of football and hard luck on the final result loosing out to Raheny.

Seniors Match Report
Division 3B – Round 13
John Mitchels V Cuchulainn Gaels
An Chéad Leath :
A depleted Gaeil Chúchulainn squad made the journey to the outskirts of Ardee for round 13 of the Div 3B league. On a very warm night for football, it was the home side that burst out of the blocks in devastating style. A goal and 2 points in the first 4 minutes by the Mitchels full forward were followed by 2 more points by the 6th minute. A Micheál McCabe point on 7 minutes didn’t settle the Gaels. A second goal on 10 minutes and 4 more points in the first quarter saw Mitchels lead by 2 07 to
0 01. The Omeath cause wasn’t helped on 13 minutes when Brian Elmore sustained a knee injury and had to be replaced. A fine Jordan Loye point doubled the Gaels score on 16 minutes. Mitchels made it 2 08 on 19 minutes. Some Gaeil Chúchulainn pressure led to a penalty on 28 minutes after Calum Fearon’s jersey was pulled. Jordan Loye buried the spot kick in the corner. A minute later Cian McDonald scored a fine point before Mitchels ended the first half scoring a free in injury time.
John Mitchels 2 09
Gaeil Chúchulainn 1 03.
An Dara Leath :
The second half was a much tighter affair. Ray Phillips opened the scoring with a free on 3 minutes. Mitchels made it 2 10 on 8 minutes. A minute later Eoin McDonald pointed after great build-up up play by the Gaels best players on the night, John Morgan and Cian McDonald. Jordan Loye hit a long distance free at the end of the third quarter. 2 more home points followed. 7 minutes from time Cian McDonald made it 1 07 for the Gaels. The last score of the night came for Mitchels on 24 minutes.

We’re also still waiting on Sports Capital Grant to assist with All Weather Pitch Development, Back pitch drainage, Walkway lighting plans.
Once these projects are completed we then plan to Upgrade our stand, Create a more permanent OgSport pitch on Bank Area plus Create improves Parking area, so plenty being done by all Committees off the pitch as well as the super work we see on the pitch. This is why our weekly Club Lotto & Annual Fundraiser events are so important to keep improving on what we can provide for all our Community at large.
Naomh Mairtin are proud to be carrying on the tradition of supporting Gaelic Games and Culture, which has been taking part in our rural Parish area of Monasterboice & Tenure,Co.Louth for over 60 years. Along with providing impressive coaching & games for approximately 400 male & female players (this includes both boys/girls along with our adult men’s/ladies teams) we also facilitate numerous other local Community groups within our Club Hall & Facilities all year round. We are also working together on further developing our facilities to cater for our growing playing & community needs, particularly through our active Health & Well-being Committee which is another key focus for our Club Vision as to how we intend to support & be actively involved within our wider Community.
We as a Club have adopted the GAA “One Club” approach with regards to bringing together the 4 distinct sections that operate within the Naomh Mairtin C.P.G. Club structure. These are the Senior Section, Juvenile Section, Ladies Section & SCOR/Cultural Section.
A number of years ago we as a Club focused on our Coaching & Games Coach education and development as our Vision for on field Development in order to ensure that we have properly qualified coaches available to all age groups and this has resulted in all Teams having a number of these coaches working with these groups ongoing. Our Club co-ordinated & agreed coaching actions + plans has also brought improved success with regards to our player development with more & more of our competitive Youth Strand Teams competing in the top tier of their age grades and in a lot of cases challenging for honours.
With these improved standards and a more cohesive club model being adopted we have also managed to create capacity for additional Adult Teams, in both Men’s (a 3rd Adult Team) & Ladies football (2nd Adult Team) that sees us catering for over 100 Adult men & women in various Adult football grades. This is in addition to our Juvenile Boys & Girls sections having Teams competing at every age level & as much as possible in most cases without any need for amalgamations.
Aligned to these sections progression has also been our continued strong advocacy and promotion of our cultural values with the SCOR section which has seen our Teams reach provincial & national finals on a regular basis as well as hosting our own Club competitions within our facilities.
However these various sections’ progress has also resulted in increased demands and requirements with regards to playing & training facilities plus the coordination of allocation of pitches, hall & general meeting rooms for all the groups and teams looking to use our Club facilities throughout the year.
If successful with regards to Chadwick’s very generous prize we would use the prize money to upgrade our 3rd & 4th dressing rooms to cater for our increased Teams use plus similarly repair/upgrade components of our stage/hall areas & communal kitchen plus replace our shower facilities in our main dressing rooms which are constantly being repaired to maintain their use presently.
Naomh Mairtin would like to extend their condolences to the Cowley Family, the Harmon Family and the Leech family on their recent bereavements.
