Start: We were due to begin the division 2 league campaign this Sunday with an away game against St. Fechins but due to the Louth game against Westmeath on Saturday all league games in division two have been cancelled. The game could take place next Tuesday night under lights if Westmeath win but if Louth win it will also be cancelled. That’s is as much as we know at the moment, we will try to keep you informed through social media and any other means.
Louth: Best of luck to Wayne Kierans and the Louth team on Saturday in the last game of the Allianz League division 3 where a win against Westmeath will see them promoted to division 2.
Bingo: Bingo will continue in our clubrooms this Wednesday 3rd April at 8.00pm, jackpot €2,700 in 48 numbers.
Underage: Juvenile training for under 7’s to under 10’s will start in the Grove on Friday 29/3/19 from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. Your child must be signed in and signed out on the evening and there will be a €1 charge per child.
Coaches: Louth GAA coaching & games are looking for coaches for the 2019 cúl camps taking place throughout the county this summer. They are looking for lead coaches(18 years +) and assistant coaches (17 years) that should have at least completed a GAA foundation award, code of ethics / child safeguarding course (within the last 3 years) and be Garda vetted whilst undertaking compulsory cúl camp coaches training as part of the programme. Those that have coached before need to resubmit all the relevant details again. Standard Tax and PRSI rules will apply to all coaches. There will be 40 camps in Louth this year and they start on Monday 1st July and finish on Friday 16th August. Our u10 boys just keep getting better and better and their coaches can’t wait for the season to begin. 25 boys resulted in 3 teams in Saturdays Louth GAA Blitz in DKiT. Points and goals galore.

Next Wednesday evening the 27th sees the return of our younger kids outdoor training on the point road from 6.30 to 7.30. This is for boys from U8’s down to 4 year olds and for the first time in a few years we are holding training for young girls from 10 year old down. Registration will be taking place in the Clubhouse during training for all club players no matter what age. Registration fee for kids includes your child’s insurance and is just €30 for first child and €50 for two. Anybody who wants to become a Club Member can also join up on Wednesday. New volunteers are always welcome at our wee club, male and female, we do need more coaches to help make our return to Ladies football successful for all the young girls.
The Sean O’Mahony’s/Na Piarsaigh/Dowdallhill U16’s had a comprehensive victory on Sunday morning over St Brides. Well done to all 21 players for a fine team performance.
Our Senior team played a couple of challenge matched over the weekend, on Friday night a very inexperienced O’Mahonys team put up a good fight in the first half but were overrun in the second half by a very slick Carrick Rangers outfit. On Sunday morning, also on the DKIT grounds, a slightly stronger lineup got the better of O’Connells by 3 points, after another good workout for our lads just prior to the commencement of the Senior league next Sunday the 31st against Cooley in Fr McEvoy park at 11.30am.

Friday 22nd March was a landmark day for the Naomh Fionnbarra & St. Anne’s C.C. clubs as the new training field was opened for use. The new state of the art floodlights and the excellent surfacemake the new field a pleaseure to train on. Both the senior ladies and the senior men were lucky enough to use the field for trining on Friday and everyone was very impressed with the new facilities. A lot of work has been done since the field adjacent to the existing club grounds was purchased a number of years ago. Both clubs would like to thank everyone who helped in any way to make this a reality including all Club Committee Members especially the Fundraising & Development Committees, Club Players, Supporters, Mentors. Special thanks everyone who took part in both Strictly Fundraising events and the recent Lip Sync Fundraising Event. Both clubs are also very grateful to sponsors and the local community who supported our fundraising efforts. A word of thanks must also go to club volunteers who gave up their time during the course of the development to help with the work. Finally, both clubs would also like to give thanks and praise to Rock Sportsfields who did an excellent job with the development of the field. Please God the new field will get plenty of use in the months and years ahead.

Naomh Fionnbarra walking/running track around the field at John Markey Park is open for use. Floodlights will be turned on at the track on Monday, Tuesday and Friday evening between 8-9pm and members of the public are welcome to use the track. Togher Fit to run Group use the track for training on Monday nights and encourage anyone interested in running training to join in. All users of the track must be members of the club (either Full or Social members) to cover insurance costs. The track will be open for use forboth Full and Social members all year round.
