The Louth version of “Club Maith” – an accreditation scheme that will benchmark clubs for implementation of best practice across a full range of GAA activity- has been finalised.
All clubs are invited to participate and their wish to be included should be formally indicated to me by mid-November. The assessment of each club’s quality of activity and presentation will commence in January by independent adjudicators with their recommendations being announced at a special event in March. The criteria being used will be forwarded to clubs in advance of the assessment.
Awards will be granted for each category of Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Hurling clubs. The overall winner will be awarded the Peadar Kearney Perpetual Trophy kindly presented in his memory by the Kearney family. Sponsorship has been received by LMFM also and the committee wish to gratefully acknowledge their contribution.
The Pitch Maintenance course will be held this year in St. Mary’s Club on Saturday 15th November. It will be conducted by the Irish Institute of Sport Surfaces and the fee will be similar to last year of €50 which will include lunch. The course will include issues as Aeration, goalmouth repair, Sand topdressing, Fertiliser requirements, Line marking, “Astro” surfaces, Machinery maintenance, Low maintenance shrubs, presentation of entrances and clubhouses etc. The course will commence at 10am sharp and continue to mid-afternoon. The course is designed to be useful and practical for each and every club and the opportunity should not be overlooked. Intending participants should register with me by the end of October.
A Stewards retraining course will be organised by Croke Park Officials for each county by the end of January ’15. It is proposed that that this training will take place at the County Grounds Drogheda on Friday/Saturday 9/10 January and clubs that house championship games or who provide stewards for county games are expected to attend if possible. Further details will be provided when on hand.
The Leinster club grants will be announced mid-November this year.
