The Gaels travelled to to na pairsaigh on Friday night and with a number of lads missing where faced with a big task. The lads worked hard throughout in which was a very warm evening and had the score line at 1-5to 0-4 at half time. Cian McDonald netted at the start of the second half to narrow the gap and this was as close as the lads got. Naps return ed with a few unanswered points and wit low numbers we couldn’t give lads the rest they ended. Naps scored 3 goals in the last 5 mins in what took the gloss of the Score and didn’t do the lads justice for their work rate. Martin Hynes was excellent all night as where Jordan loye Martin ward owen McDonald and our 2 midfielders. It was a great effort from the lads and the work rate was clear to be seen. 5-9 to 1-6.
Well done to our Cuchulainn Gaels/Cooley U14’s who played their final game of Division Two last Wednesday night in Fr. McEvoy Park against the Plunkets. It was a run away first half holding the Plunkets scoreless and notching up 2-2 but a good solid performance was marred by some very wasteful shooting.
In the second half the Plunkets came out a different team playing some nice football but the lads held onto the lead and winning the game by 3-6 to 2-5.
Cuchulainn Gaels/Cooley are runners up in the league only loosing out on top spot on point difference. Next up will be the league semifinal against the Plunkets again who finished third. The winners of this game will play the winners of 1st place – Na Piarsaigh and 4th place the Finbars. Dates and times for these matches TBC.
Well done lads on a great achievement.
