Christmas Wonderland Omeath
A Fantastic “Christmas Wonderland”night was held in Omeath on Saturday the 9th Dec last, starting with a Christmas disco in the strand hotel and nearly 100 kids attended, when Santa came on his steam train to take the kids up to his workshop there was great excitement from all the kids, the crowds grew by the minute. Next up was the Santa workshop in Howes bar with the elves (local scouts lead by Karen Finnegan) showing all the kids how to make rain dear food and decorating buns. Santa met all the kids giving out selection boxes. Following this everyone crossed the road for the blessing of the crib and tree by our local priests – Fr. Oliver & Fr. christy where got chocolate, mulled wine & mince pies were handed out by Cafe Rosa. Then Santa himself turned on the lights to great applause – it really is a sight to behold. Then Santa, again in his steam train, led all the kids down to The Gran Vue for the Christmas Movie (Santa paws) where food was given out to all the kids. A massive thanks to all the sponsors, with a special thanks going to Omeath Fuels for the helping hand in lending us there folk lift and cage to reach the high points (cheers Lads!) in the weeks leading up to the big switch on!
The lights will be lit for all to see up to the 6th Jan. and all that is asked for to make this bigger and better next year is a small donation to help along the way!
Merry Christmas to all.
Great news for the club!
Congratulations to John Bruen who has gained Cuchulainn Gaels an award for use of the Irish language within the club. He organized the grant for the training through Irish in the schools and because of this along with other initiatives we are to be presented with an award at Páirc an Chrócaigh on 16th December at 18:00, where Aogán Ó Fearghaíl, Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael and other guests will present the 2017 Seosamh Mac Donncha Medals to our club representative, youth officer Mark Sharkey.
Well done to all involved and a especially thank you to Ivan McQuaid who presented the program through both our local schools.
