Louth Disability Service – GAA Have a Go Days
On Tuesday the 18th August the Louth HSE Children’s Disability Physiotherapy Team of Grace Lynch, Aíne O’Farrell and Conor Stout (UCD Physiotherapy Placement Student) from Mounthamilton House, Dundalk joined the Louth GAA Coaching and Games Team of Shane Lennon, Brian Óg Corr, Craig Lynch and Sean Hand in providing 3 fun filled days of FUNdamental movement Skills and an Introduction to Gaelic Games in the Louth GAA Centre of Excellence, Darver. To add to the occasion the Leinster GAA Roadshow made an appearance for the duration of the event which when down a treat with the children and parents.
As part of the GAA’s Inclusion initiatives, Louth GAA Coaching and Games have over the past four years increased and developed our links with local Special Needs schools and groups across the county with the view that all people with special needs and/or a disability should have an equal opportunity to partake in Gaelic Games to reach their full potential.
Louth GAA were delighted that the Children’s Disability Physiotherapy Team from Mounthamilton House in Dundalk and in particular Grace Lynch accepted the invitation to work together in this trial project and giving its success we hope to explore other joint activities in the future.
