NATIONAL HURLING LEAGUE DIV 3A
The Louth hurlers welcome Tyrone to the Darver Centre of Excellence this Sunday afternoon, February 19, for their clash in round two of Division 3A of the NHL.
Both sides will be looking for a big improvement from their performances last weekend when both counties suffered heavy defeats in round one of the campaign. Despite leading early into the second half Louth came out on the wrong end of a 2-23 to 1-14 against Donegal in Letterkenny. Tyrone for their part suffered a 3-15 to 1-11 defeat at the hands of Monaghan at Healy Park in Omagh.
Darver was also the venue when these sides met in Div 3A in March 2016 with the Wee County coming out on the right end of a high scoring clash by 2-19 to 2-16. On that occasion Liam Dwan top scored with 1-8 and he will again play a key role this Sunday alongside the likes of Diarmuid Murphy, Shane Callan and Andrew McCrave.
Joint managers Philip O Brien and Ken McKenna have been working with a much changed panel this year from that which won the Lory Meagher Cup in 2016 but they can still call upon the likes of Darren O Hanrahan, Gerard Smyth, Seanghan Conneely and Johnny Carter who all featured in the corresponding fixture last year for Sundays match.
Louth will be looking to record an important victory ahead of the difficult encounter at home to Monaghan the following weekend. Sundays match in Darver throws in at 2pm.
