The build up continues for the clubs first appearance in the Senior Championship Final in seven years when we take on St Fechins next Sunday afternoon in Dunleer at 1.30pm. Good luck to everyone, players, manager Brian Brady, his selectors and supporters.
The club did capture a trophy last week when our U13 team beat St Fechins by 5-5 to 1-3 in the league final at a very wet Darver last Tuesday night September 12. In the second round of the U16 championship last Thursday night September 14 we lost a close encounter to St Kevin’s/Mattock by 2-11 to 4-3 at the Point Road having led at half time by 4-1 to 1-9. The Moninne scorers were Conor Murphy (2-2), Paddy Wehrly (2-0) and Kyle Rafferty (0-1).
Our U14 team qualified for the Championship final on Tuesday night with a good 7-7 to 1-5 victory over St Fechins in Beaulieu. In the third round of the U16 championship Moninne will take on Knockbridge this Thursday night September 21 in Darver at 7.15pm.
On Saturday September 16 in Castleblaney the minor team boosted their changes of reaching the concluding stages of the South Ulster Minor League by drawing with Eire Og (Tyrone) 0-8 to 1-5 and beating Castleblaney by 3-7 to 1-2 in the latest round of games.
Training for all juveniles resumes this Saturday afternoon in the Fairgreen from 2pm to 3pm with the usual €2 contribution still applying.
