The Newtown Blues u11s took part in a blitz on Saturday hosted by our Feile friends, Tyholland of Monaghan. The team took a little while to warm up but when they did the showed some brilliant battling qualities. They played a great semi final in the shield competition which they won and were unlucky not to bring home the shield beaten after extra time in the final. Special thanks to Tyholland gfc for the invitation and also the parents and supporters who travelled.
Underage Championship news-
Earlier this week our U14 girls lost to neighbours St. Fechins but secured a spot in the championship semi final finishing 2nd in their group. They play Hunterstown tomorrow Mon.10th away.
Our U16 girls were very unlucky when they drew against Kilkerley in their c’ship clash on Wed. This left 2nd position tied in the group that resulted in points difference to determine semi final positions and sadly saw our girls fell short by 2 points.
Our U8’s girls were in action in St. Mary’s on Saturday for their blitz and our U7boys & girls were busy as they hosted Stabannon & Dreadnots this morning. Plenty of great football all week.
Remember we start our GAA basketball Crossover Program Bullets Basketball Club Duleek & Drogheda for 4 weeks on Wed. 12th in St. Joesph’s secondary school gym from 6.30-7.30pm. All boys & girls welcome aged 6+. (€2 per person ). Training on Wed. on the pitch is finished for the season.
