Congratulations to the Sean O’Mahonys/Na Piarsaigh/Dowdallshill U16’s for their great league final victory over Dundalk Gaels on Wednesday night in Darver. In a hard fought match, in which the Gaels never took the lead, the combination side were leading at half time by a goal, 1-5 to 5 points thanks to a well taken goal by Cody McAreavey and four sweetly struck points from Terence Kelly’s left foot. The Gaels did raise a green flag early in the second half but 2 great goals from Oisin Marron and Ross McNally gave the Sean O’Mahonys/Na Piarsaigh/Dowdallshill lads a seven point lead. Dundalk Gaels did kick 5 points in a row to cut the deficit to 2, before 2 quickfire points from Ross McNally and Cody McArevey, his 3rd from play, left 4 between the teams with time almost up. A controversial goal right at the death, cut the lead down to the bare minimum, but when the final whistle was blown, the Sean O’Mahonys/Na Piarsaigh/Dowdallshill side had won by 3-09 to 2-11. Keeper Precious Kent made a couple of important saves, while there was some tenacious tackling from the whole defense, especially Oisin McCumiskey, Less Byrne and Cian McKevoy, and upfront Cody McAreavey kicked 1-3 while Terence Kelly landed 5 points.

Great night on Saturday night in Clarke’s Bar to mark that its 25 years ago since we won our 1st ever Seamus Flood Cup for winning the County Louth Intermediate Championship. Great to see so many of the players from that ’92 team there on the night, sharing many a story about days gone by.
Congrats to Conor Crawley on receiving the Sean O’Mahony’s Senior player of the year for 2017 and also to Paudie McConnville on being named Junior player of the year, both were presented their awards on Saturday night.
The Club’s AGM is fixed for 16th November on the Point Road, new members are always welcome.
