Sean O’Mahonys Club Notes
Our Junior team were had their 3rd win in a week and a half, beating Hunterstown Rovers last Friday night by 5 points on the point road. The O’Mahony’s lads got off to to a flyer, with 1-3 without reply from play, the goal coming from Sean Mathews’s left boot from a tight angle after a good move down the right wing. However Hunterstown finally got motoring and kicked 9 points of their own, including 7 in a row just before half time to leave them 1 up at the break, 1-5 to 9 points. Five minutes into the second have Hunterstown got in for a goal, only for Colin Finan to go on a meandering run from the left wing, across the 21 around a few defenders, before cutting the ball back into the bottom left corner of the net for a much needed goal.
The visitors did kick 4 more points in the 3rd quarter to the home teams 2, to take a 3 point lead, before the men from the Quay finally cut loose, finishing the game with 1-5 from play, without reply. The goal came from a penetrating run from midfield by Ben Mcloughlin before he blasted the ball into the net, to leave a final score of 3-12 to 1-13.
