Sean O’Mahonys Club Notes
We are pleased to confirm that the Sean O’Mahonys Gaelic Football Club will be holding our 21st annual Golf Classic at Greenore Golf Club on Friday the 20th July 2018. The proceeds from this year’s Golf Classic will help to fund both facilities and running costs for all our football teams. We currently have over 300 players and as this number is ever increasing, your support is both required and appreciated. The entry fee per team is €160, which includes green fees, refreshments, and the opportunity to win some excellent prizes. If you are not in a position to enter a team you, your business or your employer, may wish to sponsor a tee or green at a cost of €100 each. Please contact Martin O’Brien on 086-1554118 or Paddy McMahon on 087-2871121 at your earliest convenience to confirm a tee time.
The Sean O’Mahony’s senior team came up short by a solitary point on Friday evening in Hagardstown against the Geraldines. In a game that was an even enough encounter throughout, the sides were deadlocked at 6 points each a half-time. Even thought the home team had to play the last quarter with 14 men, they still managed to build a 3 point lead with only a few minuates to go. Stephen Kilcoyne did knock over 2 more points to bring it back to the minimum, but his goalward bound shot that could have been the winner was blocked in the Gers box, and so the home team took the 2 league points with a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-12. Kyle Carroll did well to take his opportunities and to score 2 points from open play, Ben McLoughlin chipped in with 3 points from play, as did Stephen Kilcoyne, with 3 of his total of 7 coming from open play.
