The Joes continued their battle against relegation with a critical home win against Glen Emmets. The Joes opened with a point from Conall Smyth following good work by Jack Mulligan with Alan Quigley adding a second when his strike went over off the right post. Glen Emmets got off the mark when the lively James Butler was target on 4mins. The Smyths combined with Thomas collecting the kick out to find Daire who setup Conall for the Joes third point of the game. The Joes continued to build patiently adding three quick points from Oisin McGuinness, Conall Smyth & Killian Staunton to put the Joes ahead by 0-6 to 0-1 after 7mins.
Glen Emmets hit back with two close in frees from Ronan Grufferty and a third point from James Butler to leave two between the sides after 13mins. A well struck free from Conall Smyth had the Joes ahead by 0-7 to 0-4. The Joes then built from defence with Conor Neary and Oisin McGuiness combining to find Killian Staunton who in turn found Peter Brennan who crashed the ball to the Emmets net on 16mins. Alan Quigley pointed a 25m free for the Joes before Ian Cusack broke through the Joes defence only to see his shot come crashing off the cross bar. The Glen Emmets came back strongly with James Butler pointing from a 13m free on the side line and a second from open play. Emmets were on target with two excellent points from Keelan O’Neill and a second following a fine run from right half back Jamie Gilke to leave a goal between the sides. The Joes closed out the half with Alan Quigley firing over with the goal at his mercy and Conall Smyth winning the ball between two defenders to find Daire Smyth for the Joes second goal of the game. The Joes went in at half time with a somewhat flattering seven point lead, Joes 2-9, Glen Emmets 0-8.
The Joes had the better of the early second half exchanges with Killian Staunton pointing and Staunton was then denied by Conor Kelly who made a fine save in the Glen Emmets goal. Alan Quigley pointed the resultant 45 and Conall Smyth was on target again for the Joes. James Butler soloed all of 40m to point and Isaac Walsh added another from play on 43mins for the Emmets. The Joes hit the net for a third time when Killian Staunton won the ball in midfield to find Daire Smyth who linked with Conall Smyth to link with Jack Mulligan who found the net from close range on 46mins. The Joes final score of the game came on 48mins from a 30m Alan Quigley free. Glen Emmets continued to take the game to the Joes with Ronan Grufferty and James Butler striking two points each in the last ten minutes. The Joes came through this relegation battle on a scoreline of 3-13 to 0-14.
