BRIDES WIN ONE SIDED AFFAIR
St. Brides dominated proceedings in this one sided affair in Mell on Sunday morning and lead from start to finish.
They lead at half time with a commanding ten point margin , the highlight been goals from Andrew Smyth and Kevin Heart.
The second half followed on the same as the first half with the ‘Plunketts only managing to raise the white flag twice compared to St. Brides adding a further nine points to their total. They ran out eventual winners by seventeen points.

Na Piarsaigh continued their excellent start to the football year with a great performance against St Mochtas on Monday night in Darver. The Panel was as follows

First outing of the year in the Kevin Mullen Shield against Dowalshill was played on Sunday morning 25th Feb. Even though it was a cold morning Na Piarsaigh were hot on the field, starting the competition with a lovely point from Ciaran Murphy. A great win in our first outing of the year, 1-13 to 0-07. Naomh Mairtin got their season under way with a hard fought win over St.Fechins in Monasterboice on Sunday morning. St.Fechins took the lead in this game and this was quickly cancelled by a John Clutterbuck point. St. Fechins regained the lead and points were exchanged between the two teams until John Clutterbuck put the Mairtins in front with a rifled left foot drive into the top right corner.
St.Fechins with the aid of some free kicks levelled things up. They took the lead again through more free kicks but the teams went in level at half time after points from Conor Whelan, Val Leddy and Eoghan Callaghan. The score at half time were Naomh Mairtin 1-05, St.Fechins 0-08.
Naomh Mairtin made a few changes at half time and they came out of the blocks regaining the lead through points from Conor Whelan and a great score from Eoghan Callaghan. St. Fechins however were never too far behind and were kept in the game by some great free kick taking.
St.Fechins then took the lead again with a goal and point. However JP Rooney was introduced on the 40 minute mark and made a telling impact on the game. He scored a vital goal from the penalty spot after been taken down himself and scored 3 points to complete the scoring for Naomh Mairtin.
In a highly entertaining game Naomh Mairtin won out by one goal on a scoreline of Naomh Mairtin 2-12, St.Fechins 1-12.
