Sean O’Mahony senior team had a hard fought single point win over Roche on Saturday evening in Roche.
The lads from the quay had a good start to take a 3-1 lead before Roche had a scoring burst of 1-3 in the middle of the first to lead by a goal. The away team then had their own scoring blitz with 1-1 from Ben Mcloughlin & 2 points from Conor Finnegan to lead by a point at time 1-7 to 1-6
The home side got their second goal early in the second half, however the lads from the quay kept the score board ticking over throughout the second half, kicking 6 more points to win by the bare minimum, 1-13 to 2-9.
The lads are away to Mattock Rangers next Friday night at 8pm in the next round of the Paddy Sheelan cup.

A strong final quarter showing from Na Piarsaigh saw them edge out Lannleire at Darver on Saturday night.
Only one point separated the sides after an entertaining first half, Eamonn McAuley’s goal ten minutes into the game helping Na Piarsaigh to lead 1-06 to 0-08 at the break.
The opening quarter of the second half was evenly contested with a Briain McGuinness point for Lannleire on 43 minutes leaving the scores level at 0-11 to 1-08. However, Na Piarsaigh kicked the last five scores of the game to win 1-13 to 0-11.

Na Piarsaigh continued their excellent start in the Kevin Mullen Shield with a great performance against Lanliere on Saturday night in Darver. The Panel was as follows

O’Connells 3-10, St. Patricks 1-11
O’Connells got their first victory of the season when they had five points to over St. Patricks at Darver on Saturday evening. The Lordship men went in front with two points from Danny O’Connor. O’Connells replied with a point from Jackie Agnew but the Pat’s landed the next three from O’Connor, Jack Murphy and Darren O Hanlon. The Bellingham side got the first goal of the game after a Dean Stanfield pass found Conor McGill and he shot low to the net. The teams shared the next two points to leave the score 1-2 to 0-6. Points from O’Connor and Gavin Gregory finished the scoring for the first half to put their team three in front at the break. Paddy Keenan got the first point of the second half to increase his sides lead to four. But the O’Connells reduced that margin to one with the next three points from Paul McKeever and a brace from Robert Quigley. Points for each side from Keenan and Conor Kiernan kept the margin at one, but a minute later the men from Lordship got their first goal of the game after a run from Keenan who found Aidan McCann and shot to the net to leave the score 1-6 to 1-10 going into the last ten minutes. Quigley pointed to cut the deficit to three and a couple of minutes later his team were awarded a penalty after Stanfield was taken down in the area and Agnew made no mistake from the spot to level the game 2-7 to 1-10. O’Connor put his side in front again with his fifth point of the game but the Bellingham boys went straight up the field and Quigley found Agnew who rounded the keeper and shot to the net for his second and his team’s third goal of the game. O’Connells tails were up and points from Quigley and substitute Emmet Byrne put them four ahead with a minute remaining. Quigley got his fifth and the last point of the game to give his team their first win of the 2018 season.

The Naomh Fionnbarra Intermediate lost to Dunalk Gaels in the 2nd round of the Paddy Sheelan Cup in DKIT on Friday 9th March on a scoreline of 2-16(22) to 1-7(10). Again short a number of players team manager Paddy White had a chance to assess all players in his panel. Played in windy conditions the Gaels had the breeze at their back in the first half and took a 2-11(17) to 1-1(4) half time lead. The Barrs performed better in the scond half but struggled to make inroads in the Gaels lead. Final score: Dundalk Gaels 2-16(22) Naomh Fionnbarra 1-7(10).
