Leinster Junior Championship Semi-Final
Louth 2-11 Wicklow 0-10
William Woods bagged 2-4 as Louth Junior footballers qualified for the Leinster final v Meath on June 25th in Croke Park.
Woods bagged his first goal in the first minute when a ball played in from Dean Maguire was about to be gathered by Peter Dignam only or Woods to palm the ball to the net. Some excellent point scoring in the opening half from Woods and Conal O’Hanlon lept Louth in control. In defence Roche Emmets man David Quigley, Barry Reynolds and Niall Sharkey were in fine form.
At the break Louth were ahead 1-6 to 0-2. An early second half point from Dean Maguire got the Louth boys off to a good start. Wicklow came back into the game with 3 unanswered points but their purple patch was halted when once again William Woods found the net with a fine goal. Further points from Ciaran Sheridan, Conal O’Hanlon and Colm Giggins closed out the game for Ollie McDonnells side.
