Na Piarsaigh/Blackrock 2-11 Sean McDermotts 0-3

Na Piarsaigh/Blackrock made a strong start to their DKIT Sport Junior Football Championship campaign with a convincing victory over Sean McDermotts.

The Dundalk outfit settled quickest, opening the scoring inside the first minute through a two-pointer from Paul Mallon. James Feely then took centre stage, firing home a goal in the 13th minute before adding a further three points during an impressive opening half.

Sean McDermotts eventually got themselves on the scoreboard through a Cormac Walsh free, with Gerard Rice responding for Na Piarsaigh/Blackrock as they continued to control proceedings.

Feely converted another free before adding his fourth point of the half shortly afterwards, leaving Na Piarsaigh/Blackrock comfortably ahead at the interval.

Half-time: Na Piarsaigh/Blackrock 1-6, Sean McDermotts 0-1.

There was little let-up after the restart. Gerard Rice added a point before Feely found the net with an excellent goal in the 38th minute to extend the advantage further.

Paul Mallon and Thomas Muckian followed with scores, while Feely continued his excellent individual display by converting another free.

Sean McDermotts did manage two further points through Walsh and Dean Tuite, but Na Piarsaigh/Blackrock remained firmly in control.

James Mahoney added to their tally late on as the Blackrock side completed a comprehensive 2-11 to 0-3 victory to get their championship campaign off to an impressive start.
