2025 Leinster Final v Meath

Sam Mulroy delivered a captain’s performance in the 2025 Leinster Final against Meath, leading Louth with authority and precision on a historic day for our county. His tally of 1–7 proved decisive, with his first-half penalty shifting momentum from Meath’s favour. Mulroy’s movement, composure on the ball, and reliability from placed kicks kept Meath under pressure throughout. In the closing stages, he showed calm leadership, handling a serious amount of possession, guiding us home to our first provincial title in 68 years. A performance worthy of the All-Star alone.

Sam has his say:
Speaking to Louth GAA afterwards, Sam says “It is an absolute privilege to represent both my club and county on the All-Star stage, following in the foot-steps of Paddy Keenan and Craig Lennon..
It takes a lot of hard work to get here, so I would like to thank everyone – teammates, mentors, coaches that have helped over my lifetime, so yes it is pretty special and thank you so much”.

Sam Mulroy has become an emblem of everything we value within Louth GAA — commitment, leadership, and unwavering standards. Since his debut in 2017, Sam has developed into one of the county’s most reliable performers, carrying the jersey with distinction through every league and championship season. His progression from promising youngster to All-Star forward has been built on hard work, resilience, and a constant desire to improve.
When Sam was appointed captain ahead of the 2021 season by Mickey Harte, he embraced the responsibility with the same determination he shows on the pitch. His leadership has strengthened year after year, guiding younger players, driving training standards, and representing Louth with pride. Whether he is taking on the scoring burden, organising from the front, or lifting the energy of a team under pressure, Sam consistently delivers when it matters most.
Our historic Leinster success in 2025 underlined his importance. Throughout the campaign, Sam balanced scoring power with composure and tactical intelligence, helping steer the team through tight battles and high-pressure moments. Louth supporters saw a captain fully invested in the team’s journey — someone who refused to let the opportunity slip after 68 long years. The sight of Sam lifting the Delaney Cup is now etched into county history, a moment that will inspire future generations.
Sam embodies the best of Louth football. His example reminds us of what sustained effort, belief, and leadership can achieve. We are proud of his accomplishments, grateful for his contribution, and excited for what lies ahead as he continues to lead this team with distinction.

Congratulations, Sam!
