John Mitchels 5-22 Sean McDermotts 2-2
John Mitchels got their Christy Bellew Cup ambitions back on track with a comfortable victory over Sean McDermotts at Cullen Autoparts Louth GAA Training Centre in Darver on Saturday afternoon.
John Mitchels effectively both the game out of the Sean McDermotts reach in the opening 10 minutes as they hit them for three goals through Andrew Bingham, Aaron Keely and Gareth Kane. Cormac Walsh got a major for the Seans before Kane added a second goal for himself before half time. Half Time – John Mitchels 4-6 Sean McDermotts 1-2
John Mitchels kept the foot down in the second half adding scores from a variety of positions across the pitch. Trevor Matthews, John Bingham and Kane all scored heavily while Liam Devitt and Stephen Bingham had good impacts from the bench. Johnny Carter’s men will be satisified with a good afternoon’s work especially without the services of their talisman John Gallagher after he hobbled off in their Round 1 defeat to St Finbarrs. The Ballybaile men will be aware that bigger tests lie ahead and will have to navigate their Round 3 game with extreme caution.

Gareth Kane scored 2-4 in a big win for John Mitchels
