O’Connells 2-21 Lannléire 2-13

O’Connells advanced to the Quarter Finals of the DKIT Sport Junior Football Championship following a 2-21 to 2-13 win over Lannléire at Stabannon on Saturday afternoon.

It was a performance of top class maturity by the Castlebellingham men as they took care of a difficult task that Lannléire presented. Robert Quigley top scord with 1-8 on an afternoon where he was in ominous form for the O’Connells. The experienced duo of Jackie Agnew and Niall Conlon were also very prominent. They led 1-9 to 1-14 at the break and went from strength to strength in the second half with Quigley adding score after score.

Darragh Malone and Bob Murphy led the Lannléire charge. It was a difficult task for Andrew Rogan’s side and for them it was a bridge too far for a squad ravaged by injuries in recent times after showing good promise in the league.

O’Connells can now look forward to a Quarter Final while Lannléire’s year ends.
