Paddy Clarke Memorial Walk
Paddy Clarke passed away on November 10, 2018, at the age of 72 after a short illness. Paddy had a great passion for all sports and in particular we would like to remember and recognize the work he done within the realm of Gaelic games in Louth.
His ability to nurture young talent was second to none and his renowned coaching skills brought him to the very top of the game. During a long and distinguished career, Paddy coached teams to SFC titles in five different counties. He also managed the Louth senior county team which included the Division Two league title in 2000 after a final against Offaly
His talents were recognized on the national stage when International Rules manager Brian McEniff appointed Paddy as his assistant and coach to the Irish team for the 2000 and 2001 series. Paddy was an innovative coach as well as a courteous and friendly character, always happy to talk football
Paddy’s family and friends, along with members of the GAA community. came together in 2022 and organized the inaugural 5K The Paddy Clarke Memorial Walk which took place at the Glen Emmetts club and surrounding walkways.
Louth GAA will continue the memorial walk which will take place on the Protection & Prosperity Louth GAA Training Centre, Darver walkway. The walkway surrounds the complex and is on a level and secure pathway. This will ensure it is a comfortable walk for all age groups and abilities. All funds raised at this event will go directly towards the development of a new ball wall in the Protection & Prosperity Louth GAA Training Centre, Darver.
This will ensure the continued development of all girls, boys, women, and men, who are involved in Gaelic games in our county. The new facility will be known as the Paddy Clarke Memorial Ball Wall, which will ensure that Paddy’s name and his legacy in Louth Football is remembered for the generations to come.
The walk will take place on the 06th May 2024 and will start at 10am.
We would also ask everyone, where possible to come and take part in the walk on the day. Refreshments will be available for all before, during and after your walk.
