Sam Mulroy Reaches 100 Senior Appearances for Louth
Congratulations to Louth Senior Football captain Sam Mulroy, who reached the landmark of 100 senior appearances for the Wee County in last weekend’s All-Ireland Senior Football Championship semi-final against Mayo.
The Naomh Máirtín clubman has been a central figure in Louth football since making his senior debut in the 2017 O’Byrne Cup against Meath. He made his championship debut later that year against Wicklow and has since established himself as one of the county’s greatest servants and most prolific scorers.
Throughout his inter-county career, Mulroy has consistently delivered on the biggest stage, becoming one of the most accurate and reliable forwards in the game. To date, he has amassed an outstanding scoring return of 33-474 (573 points) in Louth colours.
His appearance milestones include:
25th appearance: v Tipperary, National Football League (2020)
50th appearance: v Derry, National Football League (2023)
75th appearance: v Donegal, All-Ireland SFC Quarter-Final (2024)
100th appearance: v Mayo, All-Ireland SFC Semi-Final (2026)
Appointed captain by Mickey Harte ahead of the 2021 season, Mulroy has led Louth through one of the most successful periods in the county’s recent history. Under his leadership, the Wee County reached three consecutive Leinster Senior Football Championship finals, culminating in the memorable victory over Meath in 2025 when he proudly lifted the Delaney Cup.
During his career, Sam has played under six senior managers: Colin Kelly, Pete McGrath, Wayne Kierans, Mickey Harte, Ger Brennan and Gavin Devlin.
