The Lennon Cup got underway last week, on its 50th anniversary with an opening round win for St.Josephs CBS from Drogheda.

St.Josephs CBS Drogheda, who overcame De La Salle Dundalk in the opening round game of the Lennon Cup.

The prestigious post-primary schools competition launched last Tuesday in Louth GAAs Centre of Excellence in Darver.

Each school had a representative present and St.Marys DS Drogheda had no other than Sean Emmanuel, a member of Meath u17 All Ireland Winning Team.

All the representatives met each each other and the night was hosted by Shane Lennon Louth GAA Games Development Manager.

Also in attendance was Louth GAA Senior Football Manager Mickey Harte and his assistant Gavin Devlin. Both spoke of the importance of schools football and the important step it provides towards adult football.
